The Most Romantic Ways to Get Engaged

The moment you make the decision to get engaged is one of the most incredible moments of your life. You look at the person you're with and can't imagine living your life without them. They make you happy, they make you whole, they truly complete you. When this moment rolls around, you want everything to be perfect. Asking someone to spend the rest of their life with you has to be done at the right time and in the right setting.
While some couples decide to get engaged together, the more traditional way is for the man to propose to the woman, by offering her a ring and asking for her hand in marriage. Making the decision together is of course just as good, but for those who have a romantic streak, the traditional method will always be first choice. There are so many different ways to propose, it's almost difficult to choose. In some cases, the place and time will come to you naturally, but in others, you might need some inspiration.
Destination Proposals
Getting engaged somewhere romantic and exotic is always a good way to go. This has become more and more of a popular way to propose as couples opt for something exciting and different. This can be planned together, making her think it's just a nice vacation somewhere, or it can be planned as a surprise. The total surprise trip is more difficult to pull off, but the reward is a lot greater. Always remember to go somewhere beautiful and picturesque, like Paris, New York, or Hawaii.
Take An Idea From The Movies
Films are filled with great proposal scenes. Most women know these by heart and are big fans of romantic movies. Watching some of the ones you know are her favorites can give you great ideas about how to propose. You should make sure the proposal does indeed come from one of her favorite films otherwise it becomes generic. If she loves Sex And The City, (not the film, but what woman doesn't love the show?) then maybe take the dog for a walk and ask her to come with you, a la Aidan proposing to Carrie.
The Casual Proposal
Not every couple needs to have extremely romantic destinations or plans for their proposal. Some prefer to do it in the comfort of their own home, or their favorite restaurant. This can be a great method, because the element of surprise will be at its height. While you're cooking dinner together like you do every other night, or cuddled up on the couch watching TV, excuse yourself to the bathroom, come back on one knee and she'll be more surprised than anything.
Always remember that proposing is something very personal and your first instinct about where and when to propose is usually the right one. Give it some thought, but don't over think it. If this is the person you are meant to be with, no matter how you propose will be the best to them.
